So I made these pumpkin carving templates at a friend’s request. She wanted some simple pumpkin stencils for a nice Halloween activity with her daughters. I chose the traditional jack-o’-lantern because it’s fairly easy to carve and pretty forgiving, so you don’t need a lot of experience to end up with a good result. Format: PDF. Paper size: US Letter. Dimensions: 8.5 x 11 inch. Orientation: portrait, vertical.

To turn these templates into pumpkin carving stencils, all you need to do is cut out the parts within the dashed line. Then you can place them over your pumpkin and mark the shape of the jack-o’-lantern face. As you see, I didn’t make just one design, but three: a happy jack-o’-lantern, a scary one and a cute jack-o’-lantern face.
The design of these printable pumpkin carving templates is intentional. I thought it would be a good idea to use dashed lines for the contour of the eyes, nose and mouth of the jack-o’-lantern. This way it’s pretty obvious where you have to cut and, by using lines instead of filled shapes, you save on printer ink too!
Our selection of printable templates can be downloaded for free in PDF and Microsoft Word file formats. You can use any of the paper templates to print for your own use.
