How to Use This Chart for Learning Math Faster

To get the most out of this chart and start memorizing the facts, we recommend these three proven teaching methods:

• The Cover-Up/Masking Method: Have your student cover a single row or column with a piece of paper. Ask them to answer the question or guess the answer. At the end remove the paper to reveal it and let them check their work. This makes it so the students don’t just simply "read" the answer.
• The Speed Challenges/Drills: Set a timer for 60 seconds. Have the student recall as many numbers as they can remember. This builds the "automaticity" and mental speed.
• The Pattern Recognition/Hunt: Encourage students to find patterns. One such pattern is the diagonal line of square numbers (1, 4, 9, 16, 25...). By understanding these patterns kids can memorize numbers much easier.
